CASPer Test: Are they really watching your webcam?

The myth: You must always remain in the webcam’s field of view when taking your casper test.
Casper Test webcam monitoring

The myth that "you must always remain in the webcam’s field of view" when taking your casper test is only partially true.

CASPer candidates are continually monitored throughout the test-taking period via webcam. The purpose of this is to ensure that the individual who has registered for the test, is the same individual who is actually taking it. This protocol has been put in place to avoid test cheating.

According to Altus assessments (creators of the CASPer test), during the CASPper test, you must remain within view of the webcam at all times. However, during the optional 15-minute break that takes place in the middle of the exam, you are free to leave the webcam's field of view. This is your time to do whatever you need to get refreshed before tackling the rest of the test. During this period, don't hesitate to go to the bathroom, walk around your room, or get a quick bite to eat or drink. The test creators explain that the CASPer test’s webcam monitoring system can tell when you are in a test break section. If you leave the webcam’s field of view during this time, you therefore will not be penalized in any manner.

Your webcam must always be on during the exam, and you must remain in view throughout every segment of the CASPer test. They do not use your picture in any manner which may affect the result of your CASPer score. Do not worry about dressing up in any particular way, or cleaning up your desk. Just try to relax and focus on all of your CASPer test preparations so you can master casper.
